I’m Alexandra, the face behind Flowing Forward, and let’s just say, if life had a frequent flyer program for making bold decisions, I’d be its top-tier member.
I could say that traveling was always my passion, but honestly? Total cliché, and not even true. The first time I sat on a plane, I was 23. I enjoyed the trip, sure, but it didn’t instantly spark a need to see the world. That “aha” moment actually came later, thanks to Julia Roberts and Eat, Pray, Love. I know, I know—total cliché. But hey, this one? 100% true.
Fast a little bit forward I quit my perfectly fine corporate job just before turning 30 and moved to Dubai. At that point I probably also wanted to just run away from adulting, and what better way to do that than becoming a flight attendant with Emirates? One of the best decisions of my life. It was epic.
But then the pandemic hit, the world shrank, and I realized I didn’t want to spend endless days grounded in my empty apartment. So, I followed my heart (as I usually do) and decided to leave my dreamlife behind to spend time with my family. …just in time to share one last goodbye with my grandma, who COVID stole from us far too soon. —those were the saddest, most heart-wrenching days of my life. That chapter made me realize how fleeting life is.
Then, as life would have it, a new adventure called me to the United States, and I’ve been flowing forward ever since. As of now I moved countries three times already—and guess what? I’m already prepping for move number four. Can’t stay in one place too long, right?
What can I say? I’ve never been one for playing it safe or following the rulebook. I take decisions by following my heart, listening to that little voice in my gut, and yes, going with the flow. I must say, that approach has resulted in some truly exciting adventures.
So, welcome to Flowing Forward! This is where I share my love for personal growth, travel, and figuring out life’s unexpected challenges—whether they’re taking me across the world or just a little further along my own journey.
My hope is that you’ll find a little inspiration here to go with your own flow, trust your gut, and maybe even book that one-way ticket you’ve been thinking about. - that’s what I would do anyway.
